Peace to Those on Whom His Favor Rests

Print Friendly

May the peace of Christ be with you and your family this holiday season.

This year we’ll abandon our Papua New Guinea tradition of eating shrimp and going to the beach.  We’ll skip out on inviting 45 people to cram into our living room to watch a holiday themed move.  We likely won’t be having carolers at 2 a.m. as we did in New Guinea.

This Christmas will be much different than the previous six Christmases we spend in PNG.

Instead, we’ll celebrate with family.  We’ll eat ham.  We’ll, Lord Willing, go and play in the snow that is being predicted for Christmas eve and Christmas day.

Still, one thing remains the same.

Christ with us.

Christ came for the salvation of all mankind.  He came to offer peace to throughout the world.  That’s why Christmas is never isolated to a geographic region.  Because, our Christ is everywhere and in all things.

He is what makes Christmas worth celebrating.  It isn’t the presents under the tree.  It isn’t a tropical or freezing climate.

We celebrated because with Him we have EVERYTHING!

May the peace of Christ rule you hearts as you celebrate this holiday season.

While I applaud the spirit of giving and peace the scriptures say:
Jer 10: 2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
