If you’re a long time reader of MH4C, the title may strike you as odd.
I’m not a health and wealth advocate. If you’ve just come to this blog by Googling “Make Millions God”, then my advice to you is proceed to the back button and do not pass Go.
I’m open to be corrected, but I can’t think of a single Bible story where there was ever a negative judgement on a person because of how much he or she made.
There are certainly some who were condemned because of how they chose to make or pursue money. There are those judged because of how they chose to spend their money.
But there is no amount of salary that is too much for a Christian.
Yet, sometimes it’s possible that we make people feel awkward as Christians for making a lot of money. I don’t really think God cares how much a person makes.
In fact, I think that God might actually be cheering you on. $500,000 in profits this year. Let’s see if we can make it $750,000 next year.
That is, as long as your heart is rich towards God.
Of course, there are certain unique temptations to being a high income earner:
- The drive for more. High income earners tend to have an amazing intensity with their business. That intensity can sometimes compete with their intensity towards Christ.
- The I-deserve-it syndrome.
We, as Christians, ought to support and encourage those who are making millions to continue to do so as they continue to be committed to the Kingdom of God.
My life has been blessed in amazing ways by the generosity of high income earners. When we lived in Papua New Guinea, our support came from the generous gifts of people. Those with higher incomes were able to give more.
The Challenge: Earn More and Share in the Grace of Giving
While God is happy for you to make millions, I believe that through intentional living we all can maximize our resources for the kingdom of God.
It doesn’t matter if you make $10,000 per year or $100,000 per year. There will always be a temptation for your lifestyle to increase as your income increases. There comes a point in time when we must discover that God has blessed us with enough.
Go for it. Chase that business dream. Make your millions.
But, always, always, be rich towards God.
